It was just eight days ago that marked our "getting our feet wet" with the house concert scene and we and our guests found it a rewarding venue to hear and meet our musician, Robin Bullock. Robin presented mostly steel-string guitar adaptations to Irish folk music and wrapped in some of his own compositions, one by John Fahey, and ended with the American favorite "Shenandoah". In addition to the guitar, Robin also played the cittern and mandolin. We heard the stories behind the music and those who wrote it and thrilled to the story of Turlough O'Carolan, a 17th century blind Irish harpist, whose compositions remain today and are being adapted to the guitar by Robin and others.
We look forward to future concerts and hope to bring you great people who happen to be musicians. Our goal is to use this medium to foster community and bring out the message as well as the music.
Here are two pictures from our recent concert; these are courtesy of Krista Shmid. The first is of Robin Bullock and our youngest son, Eric; seems both are have a "howling" good time and the second is Robin and one our guests.
Stay tuned for updates!!
